Together we walk the steps our precious babies never took
We are very pleased that the Townsville 2020 Walk to Remember can take place. We ask you to join us in walking the steps our precious babies never got to take.
Registration will open at 7.30am with the service to commence at 8.00am.
This special event, part of International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Month, is a day to come together to remember our babies and find connection with other bereaved parents. The event will include a memorial service during which you will be invited to come forward & say your baby’s or babies name/s. If you would like someone to read out your baby's name (as has previously been the practice in Townsville) please email kate.cowmeadow@sands.org.au.
This year, as was the case last year, we will have a massed display of pinwheels rather than releasing live butterflies. Don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions.
The service will be followed by a ceremonial Walk to ‘take the steps our babies could not’, generally a 10-15 minute short walk.
This event will take place under a COVID safe checklist required by the Department of Health. All attendees will be expected to comply with social distancing and other COVID safe requirements.
For personalised t-shirts and singlets, we are partnering with A Cut Above Byron who will sell shirts directly and make a donation per garment to Sands. Orders need to be received as soon as possible to allow for postage delays. Tanja from A Cut Above Byron has ask you allow a full three weeks to ensure delivery.
It is very important that nobody experiencing any symptoms that can be associated with COVID 19 attends the Walk to Remember. If you have any symptoms that could be associated, do not attend and seek testing. A Virtual WTR event will be available for anyone who can not attend.
